Ocean Seafood Restaurant has been my family and I’s go to for a couple of months now – I wanted to be able to document my visit here for foodie utopia though!
Since we have visited it has grown in its popularity and every time we come to the restaurant it has been packed with patrons, so be prepared to wait in queue for a little bit. Service is usually very quick with getting tables though, so we were seated most of the time with time to spare.
Ocean has many options for combinations, and offers a variety of different dishes for customers to feast on depending on the number of people in the sitting. My family and I have always gotten the Double Lobster Combo for Four combination which includes the following:
The first thing to always come to the table is the In House Soup which is served with vegetables and meat. I enjoy having this to start because it’s always served hot and the broth is always savoury. Try putting some red vinegar or pepper in for taste if you decide to visit!
Next on the menu is the Steamed Chicken which is served on a white plate, nice and cold. It comes with a Ginger and Onion Oil which acts as a dipping sauce and adds to the flavor of this dish. We were able to feast on this dish with a bowl of hot, steaming white rice. You could substitute this dish instead with a Deep Fried Chicken option, but this was chosen upon my family’s preference.
The above is not a part of the combo for four, however on some of our visits we would order the Steamed Clams in Black Bean Sauce which adds a great touch to our seafood dinner. My mom is a huge fan of this seafood dish and with good reason! It had great proportions and the flavor is definitely there.
Of course, we cannot forget the main course, which was the Double Lobster, served in a salt and pepper style. This has been by far my most favourite lobster out there -it even surpassed the dry garlic lobster I enjoyed having in Baldwin Village at Wah Sing. It has a good amount for the four of us and the taste of the lobster is almost addicting. They always display it look scrumptious and the family truly loves it!
With many traditional Chinese cuisine, you cannot forget to have some vegetables on the side. Above we have the Baby Bok Choy which is served in a succulent sauce. Once again this was quite tasty and the garlic also added to its taste.
Lastly, we had the Pork Chop in Peking Sauce as another dish to our combination – this made the finish of our meal because it was meaty and added to the fill of our stomachs. The meat itself is very tender and the sauce is packed with flavor. You also have the option to substitute this with Sweet and Sour Pork, but I prefer this dish over that one.
Overall, Ocean has been a recent discovery and my family makes trips to Richmond Hill quite frequently just to come to this restaurant. It surely deserves a spot here on foodie utopia and I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a wholesome meal with your family.
