JOEY Eaton Restaurant

Another Saturday, another food blog! Today I have a special excursion to JOEY Eaton Centre, Toronto Eaton Centre’s very own exquisite dining. I had the honour of being invited here as my boyfriend’s guest for his company dinner, and they truly picked a great venue!

We were treated essentially like VIP, we were taken downstairs to a private dining area where the company was hosting their Christmas dinner celebration, and we were very impressed. The displays of the tables were all neatly designed and had a simple, white menu sitting on top of our plates to select a 3 course meal for the evening. The selection was definitely spectacular and I found myself contemplating my choices for the evening.

We were given free drinks on the house, which is always nice! Down below I had the chance to try a fair selection of their popular drinks – these included Red Sangria, Frozen Rose and Steam Whistle Beer. These drink selections were not a disappointment, and I was glad to order seconds for myself once they quickly vanquished before my eyes.

Each of the tables were served a cheese and salami platter which was a great way to ease into our dinner. It seemed like there were a variety of cheese such as cheddar, mozzarella, brie and goat cheese – along with a selection of salami and prosciutto. As well, some bread slices to eat them altogether – a fine choice to start off the evening in my opinion.

Soon enough the servers took our orders and we began with the starter of the evening – I was given the Classic Caesar Salad which was a classic taste indeed. The salad had the perfect amount of cheese and croutons, and I found that the lettuce was very crisp and fresh. My boyfriend had also ordered the same thing and he seemed deeply satisfied with his choice of starter for the evening.

Next came the main dish, which was a selection of Braised Beef with Mash Potato and Grilled Vegetables. Both my partner and I chose this for the main course and it was by far one of the greatest dishes I’ve eaten in the city. The beef was perfectly tender and juicy, and the mash potatoes were fully marinated in the succulent gravy. The grilled vegetables were also a treat because they were smoked and grilled to perfection. One minor issue of this dish is that it was a little bit on the saltier side, so it made completing the course a little bit difficult. Regardless, the tastes were definitely there and I think it was the best selection on the menu.

Lastly, dessert! My partner and I differed in our choice in dessert this time around – on the top left was my selection of the Caramel Parfait which had a vanilla whipped cream in the middle smothered in caramel sauce and chocolate. It also had some raspberries to add some more sweetness to the end of the course. I did like this dessert, however it was a bit too sweet for my liking. I believe if there was less sweetness in the dessert, it would definitely be the killer end to the entire meal.

On the top side side was my boyfriend’s choice of Chocolate Panacotta which he seemed to thoroughly enjoy this dessert. It had some raspberry sauce on the plate to mix and everything there was completely devoured.

Overall, a visit to JOEY Eaton was 100% a treat for me and for foodie utopia as well. I would highly recommend checking out more of their menu if you’re looking for something in the core of the city, and on the fancier side of dining experience. Thank you JOEY!
