360 Restaurant at the CN Tower

Thank you foodie utopians for being so supportive of my work – this special post marks my 100th foodie blog post for foodie utopia!

Although I’ve been living in the city for some time now, I never had many opportunities to visit the 360 Restaurant up in the CN tower in Toronto. This special post is brought to you by foodie utopia and her excursion up to the top of the 6ix on her “6ix” month anniversary with her boyfriend (sorry for the Toronto pun haha).

Prior to our arrival to our 7:30pm reservation, we were informed that we should be arriving around 10 minutes early in order to make it up the tallest tower in the city. Up the elevator we went along with other patrons, taking in the views of Toronto. The staff inside gave us some quick facts about our excursion up the elevator, though I have completely forgot what they said (oops). Soon enough, we arrived at the entrance of the restaurant and the host confirmed our reservation. We were then led to a table for 2 right by the windows of the restaurant overlooking the city.

We went over the menu selection, and they seemed to offer a decent selection considering the high reputation of the restaurant. They offered fixed menu prices either offering a 2 course meal (starter and a main course), or a 3 course meal (starter, main course and dessert). My boyfriend and I went with the 2 course since we’re not too big on dessert, and it was also the more inexpensive option for two university students.

Once we ordered, it didn’t take the waiter long to come out with our first course – on the left side at the top was my selection of Tuna Tartare which had some red and black pepper along with mushroom and avocado puree. This dish was only okay for me, mostly because the red peppers gave the tuna some spice which I didn’t care for. However, the tuna was prepared nicely, and the mushroom was very sweet to eat. The avocado puree was also a nice treat to my appetizer.

On the right side of the pictures above, my partner had the Caesar Salad  which had some additions of beets, romaine leaves and croutons. He thought that the starter was quite refreshing and from what was left on his plate he seemed satisfied with the first meal.

We didn’t have too much time to digest before our main course came out – on the top here was my selection for dinner that special night: the Pork Belly and Seared Scallops which were nicely cooked and smothered in a delicate yet flavorful sauce. I really enjoyed the pork belly and the scallops were delicious, however the salmon caviar which were also incorporated in the dish was a bit too salty for my taste. the dish also had some greens which added a nice touch to my dinner that night, I would definitely say I made a good choice for my meal.

Last but not least, my boyfriend got himself the Roast Chicken Breast topped on mash potatoes and gravy. In his dish, there were also green beans and other green garnishes. He seemed to also enjoy this one very much – the mash potatoes were very cream and the chicken was cooked nicely.

Overall, I’m certain that no one can go wrong with making at least one visit to the CN tower for dinner – it was a great spot for special occasions,. Whether that’s celebrating half a year with your boyfriend like me, or just having a family function – the 360 restaurant is high quality in their service, food and overall experience.
