Margaritas

It’s been one long school semester! My apologies foodie utopians, I’ve been so busy with tackling school deadlines, social deadlines and application deadlines that I neglected my passion in blogging for foodie utopia. I decided to make a point to have a blog in every Saturday to keep consistency, so be on the lookout! Today, I have a treat that my good friend took me to just nearby the University of Toronto called Margaritas – a small establishment specializing in Mexican comfort food!

It was one evening in the midst of the school season that my close friend and I decided to catch up over some margaritas and tacos at none other than Margarita. Her and I have been so busy with our schedules, so it’s always a treat when I get to see her. Especially when it’s over drinks and dinner! Besides, she’s quite the foodie herself, so I trusted her taste in restaurant choice. Margarita did not disappoint!

On the top was my order – I ended up ordering the Tacos de Camarones – shrimp slathered in garlic butter & white wine topped with avocado crema and shredded radish. This was truly the taco come straight from Mexico itself! It was really tasty and had the perfect blend of flavors. I really enjoyed the garlic shrimp combined with the avocado crema. It was served hot, so it was perfect for a nice evening meal.

My best friend ended up ordering Taco Al Pastor – roasted pork marinaded in a chipotle adobo sauce, pineapples & guacamole. Just like my tacos, this plate looked appetizing and well-presented. My friend had chosen this on her last visit to Margaritas and she loved it! Perhaps the next time I go here again, I’ll try this dish.

Of course we cannot go to Margarita without having their famous margaritas! We found ourselves sipping on some Strawberry Margarita in their 14 oz bowl and a 7 oz Mango Margarita which were both refreshing, fruity, and really hit the spot!

Overall, Margaritas was a great spot to just relax, enjoy some quality time with my friend and of course, eat some delicious food. It’s hard to find good, authentic Mexican dining in the city – Margaritas is one of the few restaurants that really topped my expectations. I will definitely make a point to come back some day, especially since it’s so close to school. Maybe in between my next gap during the year!
