Richmond Hill Dining
|All this wonderful food!|
Before I begin, I just want to apologize for the lack of posts on this collection of mine! Starting the new semester at UofT has truly taken a huge deal of my time. However, in the spirit of completing the first midterm of the semester, I have for my viewers a new restaurant to introduce! That is, the Szechuan Legend Restaurant, a place that my family and I visited on the recommendation of my brother, who ate here before! In this post you’ll find some of the details of what we had the privilege to eat!
The first two dishes that made their way to our table was this wonderfully prepared Deep Fried Spicy Crispy Chicken (on the left) and Spicy Chicken In Pot selection on the right. Unfortunately, I am not an individual with a taste for spicy food, so I didn’t have a say in the taste of these dishes. However, on the account of the rest of my family, who are huge spicy fans, devoured these two dishes alongside with their bowls of rice.

The second dish to make its way to the table was a non-spicy dish for myself, however it was definitely filled with great flavor and splendor. This dish was of a stir fried vegetable variety, it’s the Stir Fried Mixed Vegetables, which is, as the name implies. Some of the vegetables I could identify were a variety of mushrooms and green veggies. Although no meat was present in this dish, it definitely earns its reputation for savory tastes; the vegetables really absorbed the flavors of whatever spices the restaurant put in there. It’s a great dish to pair alongside with all the other dishes we had!
Then came along the Clams with Spicy Sauce, and the Ginger and Onion with Squid, truly adding to our stomachs and filling us up for one satisfying meal
And last, but certainly not least, Steamed Tilapia! Usually when we get the steamed variety of fish, green bass is a favourite of mine, as well as my whole family. However, the selection was nowhere to be found on the menu at Szechuan which served as a bit of a disappointment. However, their steamed tilapia was quite delicious indeed!
Overall, the Szechuan Legend Restaurant is a good choice if you’re looking for quality Chinese cuisine, and definitely a must go if you are a fan of spicy foods. Their menu specify all of the spicy foods they have to offer and how spicy they are, indicated by the little chilli peppers they have beside the items (more chilli meaning more spicy!). I’d say the one thing, although minor, that could be improved on is the service. Understanding that we live in Canada and we are accepting of culture, however going to this restaurant had some language barriers because majority of the guests coming to the restaurant are of Chinese descent. Regardless, we communicated fine simply by pointing at the items we wanted on the menu, and came out with satisfying tummies!
